Abusive Relationship

It can be brutally hard, even for a normal woman, to get out of an abusive relationship.  But for someone who is a little different, it can be even worse.  Who is going to take a sow’s word for truth, anyway?  Social services are rarely as responsive to any minority’s needs.

And there are always complications.  Reasons to stay.  Sometimes the good days with him make the bad days seem worth it.  Sometimes there are kids to think about – what would they do without a father?  Sometimes only he has a job, and you’re dependent on him for all your daily needs.  Sometimes you made the mistake of marrying him, and breaking your sacred vow before God is something you just can’t bear to do, regardless of the screaming and the bruises.  Everyone’s reason is different, but there’s a depressing sameness to them all, as well.

But the most insidious reason of all?  Sometimes – and maybe, hopefully, it’s only sometimes – when he hits you and tells you that you deserve it because you’re just a fat, disgusting, dirty, stinking, grunting sow – deep down, you believe it, too.

Lies.  

Don’t ever let yourself believe that.
