As many of you may have noticed, on August 16th, DeviantArt chose to remove 176 of the drawings and photomanipulations in my gallery. While I am saddened by this, and disagree with this course of action, I acknowledge that it is DevArt's right. They own their site, and can do as they please with it. I have enjoyed my home here, and enjoyed producing artwork attractive to our unique interests.
I would also like to thank the administrator Realitysquared for working with me to bring 19 of those deviations back. Those are deviations that I have clear title to, either through drawing them or through having purchased the base stock from one of the major stock sites. I believe a few others in my gallery are from such sources, but my records are spotty, and I cannot verify them. I would like to emphasize how much of a gentleman Realitysquared was through this process. And while he had to maintain the DevArt party line, he bent over backward to help me. He didn't have to do that, and I'm grateful.
While I will continue posting photomanipulations on this site, from this point forward, I will only use images that I purchase from stock sites or which reside in the public domain. However, as this is expensive, it may eventually reduce the frequency with which I post here. This should not affect stories or drawings.
However, there is still the matter of the remaining artwork. I am slowly posting all photomanipulations and drawings at my new Tumblr account (same username as here – digitalcirce, all lowercase and all one word). Tumblr's terms of service embrace material that has a transformative component and which is not for profit, which includes all of my work.
Eventually, I will post all of my photomanipulations and drawings there, in the order that they were posted here, and complete with all original captions and accompanying text. When that task is completed, I will start posting new artwork there as well, that would be unwelcome at DeviantArt. This means that eventually, Tumblr will be home to more of my work than DeviantArt.
However, I will not abandon DeviantArt. I think I have a lot to continue to share here. Thank you for watching this site, and thank you for the kind words that many of you have shared with me during the last few weeks. I am deeply grateful for your support, and hope to continue producing material of this nature for a long time to come.
